El vigente l\u00edder de la Monta\u00f1a rubric\u00f3 una gran actuaci\u00f3n que le vio pasar primero o segundo por todos los puertos de la jornada. Coron\u00f3 el \u00faltimo, el Col du Portillon, con desventaja respecto de Adam Yates (Mitchelton &#8211; Scott); sin embargo, el brit\u00e1nico se vio afectado por una ca\u00edda en el descenso hasta meta que dej\u00f3 el triunfo en bandeja al galo. Segundo en meta fue el guipuzcoano Gorka Izagirre (Bahrain &#8211; Merida). No hubo movimientos en la general, que sigue encabezada por Geraint Thomas (Team Sky).<\/em><\/p>\n<p>148 ciclistas tomaron la salida en la decimosexta etapa del Tour de Francia a las 11:43 desde las afueras de Carcassone. Los primeros cien kil\u00f3metros acogieron una an\u00e9cdota, como fue la pausa en el kil\u00f3metro 29 y la neutralizaci\u00f3n de los cuatro siguientes debido a una manifestaci\u00f3n, y much\u00edsima batalla. No fue hasta el kil\u00f3metro 100 que emergi\u00f3 un grupo de 47 ciclistas para escaparse del pelot\u00f3n. Salt\u00f3 de ella antes del Col de Portet d\u2019Aspet (2\u00aa, -62,6km) uno de sus elementos, Philippe Gilbert, para atravesar la cima en solitario. Tambi\u00e9n dio el susto de la jornada cuando sufri\u00f3 una sobrecogedora ca\u00edda que le hizo volar unos tres metros barranco abajo. Felizmente no le impidi\u00f3 regresar a la carrera, si bien ya eliminado de la disputa por la victoria de etapa. La fuga se seleccion\u00f3 en la subida al Col de Ment\u00e9 (1\u00aa, -47km), quedando en un grupo de 17 ciclistas: Matthias Fr\u00e4nk, Pierre Latour (Ag2r La Mondiale), Warren Barguil (Fortuneo &#8211; Samsic), Robert Gesink (LottoNL &#8211; Jumbo), Damiano Caruso (BMC Racing Team), Gorka Izagirre, Domenico Pozzovivo (Bahrain &#8211; Merida), Adam Yates (Mitchelton &#8211; Scott), Andrey Amador, Marc Soler (Movistar Team), Julian Alaphilippe (Quick-Step Floors), Gregor M\u00fchlberger (Bora &#8211; Hansgrohe), Michael Valgren (Astana Pro Team), Rudy Molard (Groupama &#8211; FDJ), Jelle Vanendert (Lotto &#8211; Soudal), Bauke Mollema (Trek &#8211; Segafredo) y Guillaume Martin (Wanty &#8211; Groupe Gobert).<\/p>\n<p><strong>Preciosa subida al Portillon<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>S\u00f3lo restaba el ascenso al Col du Portillon (1\u00aa, -10km). La guerra se abri\u00f3 desde el principio, y se resolvi\u00f3 cuando Adam Yates se march\u00f3 en solitario y construy\u00f3 una renta de 30 segundos sobre un grupo de seis perseguidores. De entre ellos salt\u00f3 en el \u00faltimo kil\u00f3metro de puerto Julian Alaphilippe, que coron\u00f3 el puerto a s\u00f3lo 15\u201d del galo mientras a 25\u201d les persegu\u00edan Mollema, Pozzovivo, Izagirre y Gesink. Fue en el tercer kil\u00f3metro de descenso, a s\u00f3lo 7 de meta, que Yates se fue al suelo para perder la victoria a manos de Alaphilippe. Mientras tanto, en el pelot\u00f3n se vivi\u00f3 una subida al ritmo de Team Sky con ataques de Jakob Fuglsang (Astana Pro Team) o Mikel Landa (Movistar Team) que no lograron descolgar a ning\u00fan
