El sprinter nacido en Beauvais de 26 a\u00f1os, que hab\u00eda acabado \u00faltimo o pen\u00faltimo en tres de las cuatro etapas precedentes, consigui\u00f3 la segunda victoria de su vida en la Grande Boucle bien apoyado por un Groupama &#8211; FDJ volcado en su causa e impecablemente lanzado por el italiano Jacopo Guarnieri. No hubo cambios en la clasificaci\u00f3n general, que contin\u00faa encabezada por Geraint Thomas (Team Sky).<\/em><\/p>\n<p>146 ciclistas tomaron la salida en la decimoctava etapa del Tour de Francia a las 14:00 desde Trie-sur-Ba\u00efse. Inmediatamente arrancaron Thomas Boudat (Direct Energie), Niki Terpstra (Quick-Step Floors), Guillaume van Keirsbulck (Wanty &#8211; Groupe Gobert), Luke Durbridge y Matthew Hayman (Mitchelton &#8211; Scott) para formar la escapada del d\u00eda. Resistieron varios equipos como EF Education First &#8211; Drapac o Trek &#8211; Segafredo que se empe\u00f1aron en sumar alg\u00fan efectivo del equipo al grupo cabecero. Sin embargo, los conjuntos de los velocistas (Groupama &#8211; FDJ, UAE Team Emirates, Bora &#8211; Hansgrohe\u2026) se fajaron para evitarlo. En el kil\u00f3metro 25 de carrera, la escapada qued\u00f3 definitivamente formada.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Una diferencia muy controlada<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Consciente de la potencia de los escapados, el pelot\u00f3n encabezado por Groupama &#8211; FDJ y UAE Team Emirates (posteriormente reforzados por efectivos de Cofidis) no permiti\u00f3 que su ventaja creciera en exceso. La diferencia m\u00e1xima fue de 2\u201921\u201d en el kil\u00f3metro 81, pero estuvo la mayor parte de la jornada entre el minuto y el minuto y medio. Trek &#8211; Segafredo y EF Education First intentaron aprovechar esta cercan\u00eda en una zona de repechos a 105 kil\u00f3metros de meta, lanzando a Jasper Stuyven y Sep Vanmarcke con el impulso de Michel Gogl para que conectaran con cabeza de carrera. A la postre no lo lograron, pero esto no quiere decir que el movimiento no tuviera consecuencias: los nervios que se generaron en el pelot\u00f3n provocaron una ca\u00edda que afect\u00f3 a Nairo Quintana (Movistar Team), que reemprendi\u00f3 la marcha sin problemas pese a sangrar profusamente por el codo y a tener rasgado el maillot, que unos kil\u00f3metros m\u00e1s tarde cambi\u00f3 por uno nuevo tras pasar por el coche m\u00e9dico para tratar su herida.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><strong>Los \u00faltimos kil\u00f3metros<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>La fuga fue definitivamente cazada a 16 kil\u00f3metros de meta, poco despu\u00e9s de la C\u00f4te d\u2019Anos (4\u00aa, -18,5km), por el impulso de un Simon Clarke (EF Education First) que buscaba insuflarle aire uni\u00e9ndose a ella pero acab\u00f3 por asfixiarla al llevar tras de s\u00ed al pelot\u00f3n. A partir de entonces comenz\u00f3 la preparaci\u00f3n del sprint. Bora &#8211; Hansgrohe llev\u00f3 la voz cantante trabajando para Peter Sagan. En todos los momentos dif\u00edciles que he pasado en la monta\u00f1a s\u00f3lo pensaba en conseguir una victoria como \u00e9sta. Siempre he cre\u00eddo en ello porque mis piernas son buenas aunque no haya estado bien en la monta\u00f1a. Muchos velocistas se han retirado estos d\u00edas: yo no me he rendido, sino me he concentrado para evitar el fura de control. Nunca me desanimado porque f\u00edsicamente me sent\u00eda fuerte. Hoy me he encontrado en una posici\u00f3n ideal gracias al trabajo e mis compa\u00f1eros. El lanzamiento ha sido perfecto; las sensaciones, muy buenas; y hemos sacado partido. Mi Tour de Francia ya ha sido un \u00e9xito: hab\u00eda venido para ganar una etapa y la tengo. Esta victoria es una recompensa para todo el equipo\u201d.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Nairo Quintana:<\/strong>\u00a0\u201cEs lamentable haber sufrido esta ca\u00edda; de una manera o de otra, parece que siempre estoy un poco jodido. Tengo golpes en el tobillo, el hombro y tambi\u00e9n en un dedo que ya me lastim\u00e9 en la etapa de ayer. Los m\u00e9dicos de carrera me colocaron gasas, pero hasta que no me limpie, me duche y vea qu\u00e9 dicen los m\u00e9dicos del equipo no sabr\u00e9 al cien por cien si es de poca importancia. Esperamos poder recuperar bien, hacer un buen trabajo junto a los fisios del equipo e intentar rendir lo mejor posible ma\u00f1ana\u201d.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Eusebio Unzu\u00e9:<\/strong>\u00a0\u201cNairo tiene varios rasgu\u00f1os por toda la parte izquierda de su cuerpo y, sobre todo, un golpe m\u00e1s fuerte en un dedo de la mano derecha que no le permit\u00eda cambiar con comodidad. Quedamos pendientes de una primera evaluaci\u00f3n de nuestros m\u00e9dicos, pero m\u00e1s all\u00e1 de eso, creemos que no ser\u00e1 mayor problema. Ha sido un d\u00eda duro, con calor, 45 o 46 km\/h de media y mucha fatiga, al cual, si le sumas un porrazo como el que ha sufrido Nairo, termina por hacerse dif\u00edcil. Esperamos que quede en esos rasgu\u00f1os, que pueda descansar bien y estar ma\u00f1ana de nuevo en condiciones\u201d.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Geraint Thomas: \u201c<\/strong>Ha sido un d\u00eda sin estr\u00e9s desde el punto de vista t\u00e1ctico. Esper\u00e1bamos muchos ataques en la formaci\u00f3n de la fuga que har\u00edan la carrera dura y que la tensi\u00f3n creciera en la parte final con la disputa del sprint. As\u00ed fue. El primer d\u00eda como l\u00edder absoluto del equipo no ha sido diferente a los dem\u00e1s, la verdad. Simplemente hemos seguido haciendo lo mismo que hasta ahora. El equipo ha estado bien en lo que ha sido un d\u00eda f\u00e1cil. Tengo confianza de cara a ma\u00f1ana. Esperamos much\u00edsimos ataques: quiz\u00e1 alg\u00fan rival se meta en la fuga tempranera, y por supuesto la carrera ser\u00e1 bastante agresiva en Tourmalet y Aubisque. Para superar la etapa simplemente tenemos que seguir corriendo en equipo, sin excitaci\u00f3n ni estr\u00e9s\u201d.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Peter Sagan:<\/strong> \u201cPudo ser peor. Me duele todo el cuerpo, pero estoy contento de poder seguir en carrera. Mi condici\u00f3n f\u00edsica es peor de lo que era, pero lo he aprovechado para vivir la carrera desde otro punto de vista. Ha sido un d\u00eda de mucho dolor, pero aun as\u00ed ha sido mejor de lo que ser\u00e1 la etapa ma\u00f1ana. No me puedo quejar: al menos sigo en carrera. El gran objetivo es acabar el Tour de Francia y sobrevivir a la etapa de ma\u00f1ana. La contrarreloj del s\u00e1bado la pasar\u00e9 bien; el desaf\u00edo es la monta\u00f1a. No tengo miedo de nada: s\u00f3lo voy a sufrir un poco\u201d.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Sylvain Chavanel<\/strong>: \u201cEl secreto ha sido la motivaci\u00f3n, el ser feliz sobre la bicicleta\u201d, ha dicho esta ma\u00f1ana despu\u00e9s de recibir una tarta conmemorativa. \u201cNo sabr\u00eda decir cu\u00e1l es mi mejor recuerdo porque a lo largo de estos a\u00f1os he vivido de todo y portado todos los maillots.
