King ha rematado la fuga del d\u00eda al igual que lo logr\u00f3 en la anterior llegada en alto, la 4\u00aa etapa acabada en el Puerto de Alfacar, en una jornada que sit\u00faa a Simon Yates (Mitchelton-Scott) como nuevo l\u00edder de la carrera por un solo segundo sobre Alejandro Valverde (Movistar Team).\u00a0<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Ha marcado la etapa una fuga con Dylan Teuns (BMC Racing Team), Thomas De Gendt (Lotto-Soudal), Ben King (Dimension Data), Reto Hollenstein (Katusha-Alpecin), Thomas Leezer (LottoNL-Jumbo), Bauke Mollema (Trek-Segafredo), Jes\u00fas Ezquerra (Burgos-BH), Lluis Mas (Caja Rural-Seguros RGA), Luis \u00c1ngel Mat\u00e9, Kenneth Vanbilsen (Cofidis) y Aritz Bag\u00fces (Euskadi-Murias) que se ha destacado en los primeros ataques de la jornada.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-4407\" src=\"http:\/\/arciclismo.com.ar\/web\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/09\/aa86a.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"1000\" height=\"666\" srcset=\"http:\/\/arciclismo.com.ar\/web\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/09\/aa86a.jpg 1000w, http:\/\/arciclismo.com.ar\/web\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/09\/aa86a-300x200.jpg 300w, http:\/\/arciclismo.com.ar\/web\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/09\/aa86a-768x511.jpg 768w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 1000px) 100vw, 1000px\" \/><\/p>\n<p>Juntos han coronado los tres puertos superados en la primera mitad de etapa travesando la Sierra de Gredos: el Puerto del Pico (1\u00aa categor\u00eda), el Alto de Gredos (3\u00aa categor\u00eda) y el Puerto de Pe\u00f1a Negra (2\u00aa categor\u00eda), todos ellos coronados en cabeza por un Mat\u00e9 que llega de esta forma a la primera jornada de descanso con una ventaja muy holgada en la clasificaci\u00f3n de la monta\u00f1a.<\/p>\n<p>No ha sido hasta los \u00faltimos 50 kil\u00f3metros que Movistar Team ha empezado a colaborar con el equipo del l\u00edder Rudy Molard, Groupama-FDJ, en la persecuci\u00f3n de un grupo de escapados que acababa de alcanzar una ventaja m\u00e1xima de 10 minutos. Posteriormente, tambi\u00e9n Team Sky y Astana han trabajado en cabeza del pelot\u00f3n, pero no han podido evitar que los once fugados se jugaran el triunfo final.<\/p>\n<p>Ben King (Dimension Data) y Lluis Mas (Caja Rural-Seguros RGA) han llegado destacados al paso por la localidad de Candelario despu\u00e9s de que De Gendt empezara a seleccionar la fuga con un ataque. Ha sido en ese momento, a 18 kil\u00f3metros para la meta, donde el americano, vencedor de la 4\u00aa etapa en el Puerto de Alfacar, se marchaba en solitario, tomando superior al minuto de ventaja con sus compa\u00f1eros al pie de la subida final.<\/p>\n<p>Bauke Mollema (Trek-Segafredo), segundo clasificado en la estaci\u00f3n de esqu\u00ed salmantina la \u00faltima vez que La Vuelta lleg\u00f3 a su cima, en 2011, ha atacado en el grupo perseguidor en busca del americano, y a pesar de haberse acercado a 20 segundos, no ha podido atraparle.<\/p>\n<p>Entre los favoritos, una vez m\u00e1s han sido pocos los ataques en un ascenso siempre marcado por el fuerte viento. El grupo se ha seleccionado r\u00e1pidamente, cobrando en el portador de la roja, Rudy Molard (Groupama-FDJ), una de las primeras v\u00edctimas, pero no ha sido hasta el \u00faltimo kil\u00f3metro y medio cuando Miguel \u00c1ngel L\u00f3pez (Astana) ha roto las hostilidades, generando unas peque\u00f1as diferencias que sit\u00faan al brit\u00e1nico Simon Yates (Mitchelton-Scott) como nuevo Sencillamente he seguido a los mejores. Estaba un par de segundos detr\u00e1s suyo, y ser l\u00edder ha sido una sorpresa, sinceramente. La t\u00e1ctica ha jugado un gran papel en mis dos victorias. En la primera pude batirme con corredores como Pierre Rolland y Luis \u00c1ngel Mat\u00e9, y hoy con Bauke Mollema, que es un escalador puro. Soy consciente de mis habilidades en un final como el de hoy, as\u00ed que ten\u00eda que ganar tiempo antes de llegar a pie de puerto. He estado atento cuando De Gendt ha atacado, y luego me he ido con Lluis Mas, porque le conozco de hace tiempo y s\u00e9 que es un corredor muy fuerte. La subida era muy dura, con algunas rampas bastante fuerte. He pensado que Mollema me atrapar\u00eda. Tampoco podr\u00eda descartar a corredores como De Gendt o Teuns\u2026 as\u00ed que he sufrido mucho, pero he seguido confiando y lo he logrado\u201d.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Alejandro Valverde:\u00a0<\/strong>\u201cCreo que ha sido el a\u00f1o que mejor se me ha dado La Covatilla. No ha habido un rival que fuese muy superior a los dem\u00e1s y las diferencias han sido peque\u00f1as. Si hubiese podido aguantar esos cinco o seis segundos extra de m\u00e1xima intensidad habr\u00eda aguantado perfectamente ah\u00ed. Me he encontrado bien, las sensaciones no han sido malas ni tan siquiera en la subida, pero ha sido un d\u00eda muy duro desde salida, en el que todo el mundo ha pasado dificultades. Yo ven\u00eda a hacerlo bien y de momento llevo dos victorias de etapa. Lo hemos conseguido y me he podido meter. Al principio no sab\u00edamos si nos dejar\u00edan ir, pero despu\u00e9s del puerto hemos empezado a coger minutos, y cuando ten\u00edamos 9 sab\u00edamos que tal vez se pod\u00eda llegar y disputar. Sab\u00eda que iba con buenos escaladores y me la ten\u00eda que jugar de lejos. Lo he intentado. Me he ido con Ben King primero, pero era m\u00e1s fuerte que yo.
